The ski jumping season moves to Switzerland, waiting for the start of the 4 Hill Tournament, and this time things look a little tricky for the World Cup leader, Thomas Morgenstern. After making a monster jump in the first training session, he faded a little in the second one, as well as in the qualifications, not leading the pack anymore... and with a few good jumpers in a great form, I'll skip an 'Outright' bet, even though I still trust him to win today.
The one that as I see as the bet of the day, is Kuettel to finish on the podium... he was one of the performers so far here in Engelberg, and if he can keep this form, then he could be a challenger for a win today. With a jump of 130 meters, being the best from all who started from start-gate 15 in the first round, followed by a massive 134 meters jump, with which he got top of the list in the second training session, the Swiss certainly put himself in contention. And just to strengthen his morale, he also recorded the best and longest jump in qualification. Therefore, at odds of over 2, there surely is value in taking him to finish on the podium.
Another small bet that I will take, is Janne Ahonen to finish in the top 7. He is back on form this season, as well as here in Engelberg, putting on a decent display in qualification, after some nice jumps in training. Sitting on 3rd place in the general World Cup standings, I don't think there can be more than 6 athletes that can do better than him tomorrow, and with a decent price for this bet, it's worth taking it.
