Coming off a close home win against Wigan, City will look to bounce back off a disappointing first half of the season as they welcome a sweat bunch of additions to their team.
With a 6-0-5 home record Manchester has failed to impress at home despite the costly additions at the beginning of the season. However, there has been progress, especially in means of defensive approach and the additions of Bridge and De Jong will certainly help to stabilize the backline even further. Robinho is reported to play after his departure in Spain and he will join Phillips and Bellamy in offence.
I wonder whether there has ever been a more speedy offence then that and we will see how thez will work together. Meanwhile City will miss some long term injuries of lesser importance, but will painfullz miss suspended Dunne in their backline.
Newcastle on the other hand has had an even more disappointing first part of the season and despite some improvement in decembre trashes against Liverpool and Blackburn have been a mental set back again. Also the Magpies just cant manage to shake off injurz woes as Michael Owen and Martins will miss on offence while Ameobi is not 100%. Its tough to see them overcome their 1-4-6 road record here with only new addition Lovenkrands on offence who sucked in Schalke already.
The historz is with City here as well as thez won 4 out of 6 drawing two matches and given the huge gap in qualitz of the squads the desire of Bellamy to impress, City should not disappoint again - and the odds are impressive.
